Erick Hyland, Edencraft Boats & the Whitepointer 243L
Whitepointer Marines Production Manager Erick Hyland has a long history in the boat building industry. He was the instigator and head boat builder for Edencraft at its inception in Eden NSW in 1988 to the late 1990’s.
Erick also being an Abalone diver has intermate knowledge of the needs of commercial fisherman and abalone divers. In the same tradition as the original Edencraft boats were built Whitepointer Marine builds the legendary 243L. This boat was designed replace the then aging 233 Formula.
In Ericks personal opinion, out of all the original Edencraft boats, the 243L was far superior, because of deck space, handling characteristics and stability. Thats why when Edencraft was finally sold the moulds for the 243L were not let go.
Every aspect of the 243 Whitepointer is either built or overseen by Erick, all of our boats are built to either 2C or 3C survey specifications liasing with Marine Safety Victoria (MSV). These boats are built for serious fisherman or commercial operators in mind, with Erick’s boat building skills each boat can be built to suit individual needs. By using the latest composite materials from the USA and Erick’s skills in laminate and stringer design the 243 has the highest horsepower rating of any boat in this category from independent analysis the 243 is rated at 700HP.
